This is not a normal sightseeing trip to Brazil.  It will include the beauty of Rio de Janeiro, the excitement of São Paulo, the magnificence of Iguaçu Falls, the exotic bio-diversity of the Pantanal, against the background of Rotary purpose and fellowship.  This adventure will provide enduring memories and emotions .

Tue., May 10 – Depart U.S.:  Depart from the U.S. to fly to São Paulo.

 

Wed., May 11 – Arrive in São Paulo:  Early morning arrival in one of the world’s largest urban centers.  We will explore the city en route to our accommodations at the Melia Jarim Europa Hotel, which includes daily breakfasts.  Our sightseeing will include Sé Square and Cathedral, Paulista Avenue, etc. This afternoon and evening are free to give you a chance to rest after a long day of travel.

 

Thu., May 12 – São Paulo:  This morning, we continue our exploration of São Paulo by visiting the Butantã Institute, The Government Palace, Morumbi soccer stadium, Ibirapeura Park famous for its massive gardens. This afternoon is free for shopping and rest.  Tonight, we will enjoy our first taste of true Brazilian cuisine in a specially arranged dinner.

 

Fri., May 13 – São Paulo:  This morning, we witness the art and culture of São Paulo.  We visit the Pinacoteca, an institution which trained technicians and craftsmen to build the cities that were getting rich with the coffee commerce, and the Estação da Luz (Luz Railway Station) before attending a meeting of the Rotary Club of  São Paulo.  After, we will visit some of the club’s projects and have a chance to create friendships and fellowship with the Brazilian Rotarians. 

 

Sat., May 14 - São Paulo/Pantanal:  This morning, we fly to Cuiabá to visit the Pantanal and witness Brazil’s magnificent bio-diversity. The Pantanal, a World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, is one of the world’s remaining great wilderness and the largest continuous flood plain of the planet. Upon arrival, we will have lunch before driving to our accommodations at the Araras Eco Lodge. During our stay, three daily meals, and sightseeing is included. 

 

Sun., May 15 and Mon., May 16 – Pantanal:  During the day, our activities will include hikes exploring Brazil’s flora and fauna, horseback rides through grazing fields, woods and food lands. We will ride on canoes to explore river life, including fishing for piranhas.  At night, we will explore the heavens with a star gazing trek.  This will be a two day journey you will never forget.

 

Tue., May 17 – Pantanal/Iguaçu:  We have an early morning transfer back to Cuiabá to take a flight to Iguaçu, home of one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world.  Our accommodations are at the Mabu Thermas & Resort Cataratas, including daily breakfast.

 

Wed., May 18 – Iguaçu:  Today’s first stop will be in escorted walking tour of the Brazilian side of the falls that will be a photographer’s dream.  Lunch is provided, before we enjoy a Macuco Safari, which will include getting into jet boats and literally going up into the falls – an exhilarating experience.  The balance of the afternoon and evening is free to enjoy the resort.

 

Thu., May 19 Iguaçu:  This morning, we travel to Argentina to see the falls from a different angle.  You will literally be able to walk out into the middle of the waterfalls. This afternoon is free for resort enjoyment, or to take an optional helicopter ride above the falls.  This evening, we will “get local” and enjoy a dinner and a special show at Rafain Barbecue Place.

 

Fri., May 20 – Iguaçu/Rio de Janeiro:  This morning we fly to Rio de Janeiro, the exuberantly beautiful city with a joyous soul.  It is the home of famous landmarks, beaches and restaurants.  We will enjoy the sites as we transfer to our accommodations at the Rio Othon Hotel, which include daily breakfasts. 

 

Sat. May 21 – Rio de Janeiro:  Our first sightseeing excursion in Rio will be to famous Sugar Loaf Mountain, including a tram ride to the top.  During our travels we will see the beaches and neighbourhoods of Rio.  The afternoon and evening is free for individual exploration.

 

Sun. May 22 – Rio de Janeiro:  This morning, we travel past the famous beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Botanical Gardens, and the Jockey Club, and the Lagoon before visiting the Christ of Redeemer, located in the top of the Corcovado Mountain.  The statue of Christ the Redeemer is certainly one of the world's best-known and most-visited monuments.  This afternoon and evening is free for individual enjoyment

 

Mon. May 23 – Rio de Janeiro:  For our last day in Brazil, we will focus on its culture .  Sights include Rio’s major colonial buildings—the Fine Arts Museum, Banco do Brasil Cultural Center and Casa França-Brasil. We visit Flamengo Park, and see architectural relic, the Lapa Arches.  It will be a elegant way to complete our view of Rio. This afternoon is free. This evening, will be a night to remember with a  Barbecure Dinner at Porcão Rios & Samba Show at Plataforma.

 

Tue., May 24 – Rio de Janeiro:  This after, we end our journey with a flight home.  Wed., May 25  - Arrive in U.S.
